Taste of Playa November 21st , 2010 at Parque Fundadores
La Tortuga Hotel & Spa wanted to take the time to inform you about a very special event happening here in Playa del Carmen, that we love!
Taste of Playa is a new culinary event which was founded in 2009 in Playa del Carmen. This event celebrates the love of food, creativity and cultural influences of chefs throughout the Riviera Maya. The event will promote the incomparable culinary perspectives of local chefs, highlight new event venues that will attract a variety of participants and coordinate the efforts of local businesses and municipal governments. Taste of Playa will capture the attention of international media and show the spirit of multi-cultural cooperation that defines the modern Riviera Maya.
With 25 participating local restaurants, beverage vendors, a specialty food Marketplace and live music, we're happy to say that La Tortuga with El Bistro Restaurants is a participant in this event!
International food fairs are held throughout the world, with each host city highlighting the best and most creative restaurants and retail food outlets that define the culture of the area. Playa Del Carmen is renowned for its diversity, its international influences, its culinary expertise and its Caribbean lifestyle. The restaurants and food industry have played a major part in the development and definition of the Riviera Maya. This event provides local businesses with an opportunity to showcase the expertise of their talented chefs.
The event is scheduled for November 21st, 2010 in the Parque Fundadores from 3 pm to 9 pm. So don't forget to save the date! Local businesses and sponsors will support the operations of this food focused event, leaving chefs free to concentrate on the execution of their creations. Government and media support will promote this festival to local residents and tourists alike, inviting everyone to sample creations that normally they may not have the means or opportunity to enjoy.
In the spirit of community, a portion of the proceeds are usually used to assist a not-for- profit food program in the area with last year’s beneficiary being Ak Lu’um International School. The funds that were raised by Taste of Playa 2009 provided the school with safe, clean drinking water for students, teachers and volunteers for the 2009/2010 school year.
This is a cultural event that is not to be missed! So if you are the type who like to think about and book your vacations way in advance, why not consider coming when the Taste of Playa Event is happening? Or if you live here, whether part of the year or all year, pass the word on about Taste of Playa, and of course...don't miss it!!
